Barnala: An inter-state thieves’ gang stealing vehicles in various states finally met a criminal’s fate with arrest of its four members by Barnala police from Barmer, Rajasthan.
During interrogation, the accused admitted having stolen more than 100 vehicles from various parts of the country. More disclosures are expected as the investigation is on.
According to Sandeep Goel, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Barnala, the trail of thefts unraveled as the cops launched an intensive investigation after 2 Scorpio brand SUVs were reported stolen from Barnala on the intervening night of August 26 and 27, 2020.
An FIR was registered against unknown persons at the Police Station City, Barnala. The stolen vehicles bore registration numbers PB 10EF 7117 and PB 19S 1222 respectively.
This gang used to steal 8-10 vehicles mostly SUVs every month from various states and sell these at throwaway prices to drug smugglers who in turn used these after putting fake number plates for transporting drugs, said SSP Goel.
Under the guidance of SSP Barnala Shri Sandeep Goel PPS, Barnala Police team &CIA staff worked closely and technical investigation led to the arrest of the accused from Barmer , Rajasthan.
Identified as Subhas alias Kalu of Zorawarpur, Feroz Khan alias Kalu of Rawatsar, Krishna Ram of Artba, all three in Hanumangarh district and Gaminda Ram of Sabhowal Jaitwal in Barmer district, these thieves were traced to have 12FIRs registered against them in various states.
Disclosures made by them have, so far, provided leads to vehicles stolen from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat. The stolen vehicles included number of Scorpio, Innova, Fortuner, Brezza, Swift and Balero brands.
